Current status of trying to custom ROM my two Fire tablets:
Newer, yellow, 7yh gen one: physically destroyed by over zealous levering of the heat shield, causing two small ICs to snap off from the circuit board. In the bin.
Older, pink, 5th gen one: bricked. Awaiting second attempt to hack boot loader.
Bloody stupid devices.
