• Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but...

We think my OH may have C19, is there any point in trying to isolate me and mini-H in the house from them?

We have a spare room I could sleep in, but in-house isolation seems so impractical and it's likely they caught it on Thursday, so I can't help feeling if we're going to get it the damage is already done.

  • Unless you have separate bathrooms and kitchens too, it's likely a pointless effort.

There was some GP early on on the telly saying she and her husband has self isolated at home. From I could gather they were in separate wings of whatever mansion they were living in. Telling others it was easy to do.

  • I have a doctor friend who's OH got it (also an NHS staffer so got a test). They didn't share a bed but otherwise seem to have carried on fairly normally.

  • A friend managed to get it to the point he was hopsitalised with pneumonia but sufficiently isolate in a terraced house that his wife and two kids under 4 didn't catch it. He said it was fairly miserable as he didnt see them for several weeks and they just knocked on the door leaving a tray with his food and drinks on, so it is possible.

  • We isolated our covid 19 victims from us which was a couple who shared a room who both had it at varying times over a week or so. Me and my other half either got it very mildly, were symptomless or avoided it. I would suggest it’s deffo worth it as the viral load you receive may determine the severity.
