  • LOL

Sums up the joke media in this country.

  • For fucks sake

  • How many of the 1/5 hungry also want the lockdown extended?

That's the question I'd ask if I were writing.

Or, how can we help the 1/5, see here for top 10 charities and practical action. Though maybe that's more charity than journalism.

  • Amateur hour continues... 🙄

  • Why? They’re reporting both surveys. The survey outcomes are not mutually exclusive or even contradictory.

    You’d prefer a simplistic narrative?

  • Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but...

We think my OH may have C19, is there any point in trying to isolate me and mini-H in the house from them?

We have a spare room I could sleep in, but in-house isolation seems so impractical and it's likely they caught it on Thursday, so I can't help feeling if we're going to get it the damage is already done.

  • Unless you have separate bathrooms and kitchens too, it's likely a pointless effort.

There was some GP early on on the telly saying she and her husband has self isolated at home. From I could gather they were in separate wings of whatever mansion they were living in. Telling others it was easy to do.

  • I have a doctor friend who's OH got it (also an NHS staffer so got a test). They didn't share a bed but otherwise seem to have carried on fairly normally.

  • That said...

There has been cases where mini howard, Howard or mrs Howard has come down with viral stuff and at least one of us has avoided it by not sharing a bed and being careful with what we do.

  • Cheers.

    Bit of a comfort.

It just feels so impossible to do properly when we're struggling to keep the house reasonably tidy with a toddler moving all the things everywhere all the time and prepping meals and snacks every 5mins.

We might try separate bedrooms for a bit I guess.

Also we don't know for sure it's C19.

  • A friend managed to get it to the point he was hopsitalised with pneumonia but sufficiently isolate in a terraced house that his wife and two kids under 4 didn't catch it. He said it was fairly miserable as he didnt see them for several weeks and they just knocked on the door leaving a tray with his food and drinks on, so it is possible.

  • Bloody hell. Well done to him for not passing anything on. That must have been extremely difficult for them all.

  • OK here's the hearsay.

If I have heard correctly we can shed even before showing symptoms.

So the idea of isolation within a family unit may be futile...

I have also heard that people with diff blood groups can get diff levels of symptoms.

So it may be that an OH or child show no symptoms as diff biology.

I guess best to show caution where you can without becoming unworkable?

  • We isolated our covid 19 victims from us which was a couple who shared a room who both had it at varying times over a week or so. Me and my other half either got it very mildly, were symptomless or avoided it. I would suggest it’s deffo worth it as the viral load you receive may determine the severity.

  • Would like to add that we shared bathrooms but I ended up cooking for both of them and leaving it outside their room and then carefully putting their stuff straight in the dishwasher. We had hung out with them both the evening before and morning of when symptoms came on. I feel for you mate, I didn’t enjoy the waiting game mentally as it felt like we were just waiting to get ill.

  • People are more likely to catch Covid-19 from touching contaminated surfaces than they are from breathing in droplets from the air, according to the latest advice from the Government’s scientific advisory panel.

    https://inews.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus-latest-contaminated-surfaces-covid-19-droplets-air-explained-sage-2680179

Is this news? I really thought we’d been told it was far more likely to contract through droplets.

Anyone read other studies published that look at this topic?

  • You've read every post in this thread and haven't blocked anyone as a result?

So have I, and I've slipped to 5 days behind now...

  • I have also heard that people with diff blood groups can get diff levels of symptoms.

    🤔

  • Chipping in with my study of one person i.e. myself. Seems immunity will last for at least a month, I had covid, recovered, got myself included in a study and discovered I've a reasonable level of antibodies and then got sick again two days ago with cough etc but tested negative today. Just some regular cold virus this time apparently. Felt pretty good as otherwise I'd have had to find a whole new theoretical ground to stand on :-)

  • I have also heard that people with diff blood groups can get diff levels of symptoms.
So it may be that an OH or child show no symptoms as diff biology.

Where did you get this information from?

  • He's been taken out by the state for exposing 5g m8

  • Let's hope the immunity is good for more than a month-am hoping by the time mine wears off there will be a vaccine on the shelves. Really did not like how it made my lungs feel.

  • Read a long time ago now. (Can't find original article)

Loads on Google search... (Surprised no reference in here already!)
