An official Conservative party members email went out with a link to a test request form just in time to make sure the requests were all sent on 30/4

The 100,000 test metric is such a bellweather load of bollocks.
The media love this single figure kind of metric. Stop giving weight to its importance.
It's a simple figure that the unthinking can cling on to. The whole response to Covid-19 is more important than what a single politician said they'd do a while a go.
-
• #11858
Yes the Govt response to much of this has been shit, but don't pretend it's based on this particular metric.

So this is going to flood labs with non-priority (but tory voting) cases. It’s worse than just deception.

I'm always very kind to my springs.

Republic of Ireland has a timetable to reopen. I suppose NI will work with them, wouldn't make much sense to have a completely different schedule up here.

Isn't the problem that they could have just said "yes, we hit 73,000 tests today, this isn't our target number, but it's a significant increase in a short period of time and we will hit 100,000 imminently' rather than fabricate the numbers to pass their own bellweather bollocks?
As ever, it's tory lies and mismanagement - their pride in upholding a stupid target - rather than just admitting the facts of the situation with a bit of fucking purpose and allowing things to at least remain truthful and factful.
Its very similar to cameron's 'tens of thousands' immigration figure that they've clung to for years without being able to actualise it, and rather than backtrack they just rehash the claim/fabricate the numbers a bit.
Depressing levels of accountability

Guardian: 4/5 Britons want lockdown extended
Also guardian: 1/5 UK homes go hungry in lockdown

Reminds me of "9 out of 10 people think bullying not a problem", but this time it's not meant to be a joke.

I think the main problem is that 100 000 is a random number that crucially doesn’t mean much if not accompanied by rigorous contact tracing
-
• #11871
And the contact tracing app would appear to have Vote Leave fingerprints all over it, with their sterling reputation for probity when it comes to data privacy.

• #11872
Do the Tories have any members under 65?
-
• #11873
Vote Leave but also Google, who illegally used massive NHS data in the past.
-
• #11874
Don't worry, NHS England will sell Google and all data soon and make it above board ;)
It is the centralised database combined with potential crappy UK data control I'm not so sure about...
The nepotism is irritating for sure, but may not reflect on all quality perse.
