  • Longrow 18, talisker 18. At the bottom of your scale Nikka pure malt black is really tasty, very lightly peated and a good example of Japanese blending. Only a 50cl bottle though.

  • Tonight?
    Good work.

  • Drinks by the dram, 3 month subscription?

  • Believe me when I say Johnnie Walker Black Label is the only man I need

  • This looks really interesting. If @aggi ‘s gift recipient is really into their whisky and has likely been through bottles of Talisker like @bezzin, or even has a bottle on the go already, then that looks like an intriguing and thoughtful gift. But, yes, it is very difficult to see past Talisker 18. It is truly a staple. I couldn’t be without that, over anything else.

  • I do love JW black. Gosh, I would love a dram, but all my bottles are in storage. Probably for the best, given the circumstances.

  • Had a nip of the pure malt black last night, it really is a smashing whiskey

  • Yep it’s absolutely fab. Shame you don’t find it about that much.

  • Whiskys with less associated hangover: do they exist?

I did an experiment to see if a triple distilled Irish whiskey made any difference compared to traditionally double distilled Scotch whisky, but I don’t think I noticed a difference!

  • This one?

  • Cheers all. They like whisky but probably not so much they'd spend over £50 on a bottle so that has given me some solid options to look at.

I looked at the dram by post but it seemed pretty pricey for what you got was my uneducated feeling

  • @J0nathan that makes me do a sad

  • I know someone who drinks whiskey with sparkling water and reckons she gets less of a hangover

  • Cheers everyone, here's to another week of lockdown!

  • Jealous I have never tried a 25, but the 16 is one of my favourites ever.

I've also recently really developed an appreciation for green spot, and have been working on a tobermory 12 which is lovely.

  • Also been dipping into lagavulin 16 which is my favourite whisky I can't justify buying. As a treat. Occasionally

  • I'm a huge fan of Laphroaig, the 10 was year old was my first Islay and I always have a bottle of it. This version of the 25 is incredible, it needed a month to open up but it's bloody lovely.

Tobermory and Ledaig are great and decent prices throughout, Isle of Mull is on my list for a little detour next time I visit Islay.

  • Have found that due to picking up many suggestions from this thread I've inadvertently become a whiskey snob. Had some JW Black Label last night and found it near undrinkable, quite an acrid flavour and way too much burn on the way down. Haven't drunk a non single malt nas whiskey in over 18 months though

  • If you've been drinking decent whisky for a couple of years then it's only normal that your pallete will have changed. I also think they use more grain whisky in black label these days as it's definitely a bit rougher than it used to be, but I still like using it in old fashions.

  • Laphroaig 10 cask strength is available from master of malt at the moment. Usually quite hard to get outside of the distillery and at under £70 is pretty decent value

  • I’m really jealous of this

  • Bottle of Rittenhouse Rye on the way.

Not had any Whisky or Whiskey for a while so looking forward to a drop.

  • Piss.
    Finished my Arran
Went to buy another. All sold out.

  • This is stunning. A nice level of smoke and a drop of water has really bought out the moscatel aspect.
