Alright, I was a bit tired today so I went with my road bike. Yes whip me. I left my house and this guy and his fancy electric bike passed me super fast, so I had to go at 50kmh (apparently I can do that) to pass him again (he was not even pedaling grrr). Then I was even more tired.
The hill! Amazing, steep, steep! 36x14 on my cute shiny 650c bike, so an easy 62" gear index (team 650c @Lucybee! These are the best). I went a bit randomly south, got lost, and discovered a few really nice routes and places. https://www.strava.com/activities/3358022280/
Well done @Josh01 for the KOM!

Apologies for the late reply, I have been enjoying the lovely weather with a nice BBQ and many a beverage :)
So, tough choice for me this week... I had a few nice and pretty / monstrously steep segments around the area in mind but when looking into them they’re all either too short to create a segment or slightly unsuitable for people doing efforts on.
Therefore, I’m going for the slightly less severe but slightly longer Alexandra Palace North Side because your treated with great view at the top after your effort so its worth it :)
Here is the segment I created:

Good luck all!

Nice choice, just had a go on the commuter, 1:42 on 46/16 https://www.strava.com/activities/3365908881
Views not up to much today but still a great spot to catch your breath -

A dismal 2:28 but I was on the commuter also, gearing 44x15 on 26" x 2.0" tyres whatever that is!

Managed to sneak off from work for a quick effort this morning.
1:07 @ 48x17 = 74.924"
Forgot to get the photo with a view from the top because I had to run back for a meeting.

Might have another crack at it at the weekend. Sub 1 would nice but probably a pipe dream. :)

I decided not to go north of the Thames at all in April, just for the novelty of a month spent wholly in London's famous South London. So I skipped Swains as that would have been a transpontine transgression. Looking foward to a double header ride to pick off Swains and Ally Pally.

Haha I love how you are always sneaking off work for these! We're all dreamers here :) I reckon you can do it!

Just had a joyous ride up to Swains and Ally Pally.
One of these days you'll finally realise that North London is the place to be. :) -

Troliver Schick - good to hear from you. Hope these times are treating you well. I couldn't move to North London. What would I do with my 'South London Best London' tee shirt?
I did have a lovely visit this morning though. It's put me in a super mood, which I'm sure a glass of Kat's schwarzbier in the sunny garden will do nothing to dissipate

See, that's another reason why you need to move, so that Kat can start a brewery at the end of my street. :)

Gave it a go this afternoon after a week without cycling. Arrived at the beginning of the hill sandwiched between a bus and a weekend Audi 2000ExtraSuperSpeeder™ with his modified roaring engine. Yikes. Hard hard hard. Almost tipped over, was gonna stop until I realised I've just started using clipless pedals. I CAN PUSH AND PULL. ✨ Then it was a breeze until the summit. Soz no photo from the summit, I was rushing to go grocery shopping afterwards.
52x13 on 650c wheels, a solid 97.17". Yay.

Now I believe @cynddl is this week's biggest gear! Please go ahead and choose your segment for next week!
In other news, I'm sure you all saw that @Josh01 and I did not complete this segment. We were gutted, really looking forward to a plod up to north London again but unfortuantley I was T-Boned by a fence yesterday (road accident, I'm fine, Willier is not..) and @Josh01 food poisoning.
We'll be giving it a crack in the future but otherwise we'll be back for this week's hill! -

Tomorrow works and Chingford is fine! Looking forward to a new part of town and hopefully new hill!
Haha thanks, here's to tastier food and softer fences.

Alright, I've been asked for a hill, here is my hill: https://www.strava.com/segments/23800172. Freshly baked segment from this morning. I tried a couple of different routes to the summit and hope I've found a good balance of difficulty, secluded roads, and steepness. 76m of elevation, avg grade 6% with a few steep parts up to 15-18%.
The segment is made of two sections, first on the road (King's Head Rd, a little busy, then Pole Hill Rd, the beefy part, very secluded), easily doable with a hardcore fixie; THEN, you don't step down, and keep going: there's a nice trail with a bit more difficulty but not that much. I tried with a 50x17 and it was too much for the end of the trail, I had to walk the last meters. 46x18 should typically be a breeze to the summit.
Although I'm not the RuleMaster @Lucybee, I'd suggest we select the winner with the highest gear up to the Obelisk, and if no one does it without putting a foot down, we restrict up to the end of Pole Hill Rd?
P.S. You'll find beautiful views up there and on the neighboring hills, go during the day.
Heres my attempt, Its tough, i didnt scout out the whole thing before doing it. This was a mistake hah the last steep bit is way longer then i thought. Was a bit overgeared on 5017. I only had one attempt in me, I might go back tomorow and give it another shot.
