  • Are you saying the chain ring is approx 4mm off set from the sprocket? You can also estimate the distance of each from the centreline of the bike (i.e rear hub centre to sprocket centreline and seattube centre to chainring centre). Presumably these will differ by about 4mm and that is what you are finding. Once you have these centreline measurements you can use look at your options for achieving a better chainline.

    If you try the picture again with the camera facing down a line parallel to the centreline of the bike it will be easier to see what is going on.
