Dolan RDX - Cable routing help/advice sought

Posted on
  • I'm desperate to get out on the road but my attempts to build up a Dolan RDX frame keep being met with obstacles and problems. Not helped with current locked down situation.....

Would anyone know if the cable outers should run all the way from the shifters straight to the callipers / derailleur ends continuously. I.e. are you meant to thread the cable outer through the frame all the way to the end destination.

I ask, as I had assumed that the cable outer would stop as it reached frame, where then just the cable would be fed through the frame to the exit point where it would then be set into an outer?

I'm not sure I have ordered enough cable outer if this is the case!

Thank you in advance for any reassuring words of wisdom or banter as you see fit.

  • For internal cable routing on a modern aluminium or carbon frame, the cables run in their outers all the way for both brakes and gears.
