Yeah I've been following this dude on instagram for a while. Done loads of rad builds. Also wears lemmy jorts in some races...

I was also nearly tempted to get set for my dh bike.
Not that long ago, through the comments on dangerholms insta, I'd seen him mention that there were a few sets available from trick stuff with a discount and available for delivery immediately. I forget exactly what it was but was something like the anodising colours not being right and were being sold on cheaper than usual.
I really wanted a set. But it really is bonkers money for brakes. I'd read dangerholm talk about the price saying how people spend £1k on suspension forks now and its considered ok so then why not that sort of money on brakes?
The answer is very obviously because a set of Code RSC or Saints cost £200-£300 brand new if you shop around. Less second hand.I have Code RSC on my dh bike and two other mtb's. I've messed about using a non standard bleed procedure that gives minimal lever throw and they feel wildly powerful.
Its hard to imagine how the trickstuff could really feel that much more powerful.Would love to have a shot on them but I've yet to ever meet anyone with a set in real life.

Ive tried a set for a few runs and they were great, are they a grand great I dunno. The saints are fantastic for the little i have used them and cant see me replacing them now plus the saints are super easy to bleed like the old models.

It’s an interesting line of thought, for sure.
Just comparing brake / fork exploded part diagrams might give people an idea.

Anyway MT7 is the correct answer.

If the question is what looks cheap? Ha!
Still never actually used MT7's either. But the price comment by dangerholm, I kind of agree with.
But then Hope brakes look to be manufactured in a similar way as the trick stuff brakes? Machined alloy. I understand trickstuff brakes are produced in much smaller numbers but does that really justify such a massive price increase?I feel that the 9 month lead time for their brakes is also deliberate to help keep the brakes feeling so exclusive and also justify the price a bit.
Does any one with an understanding of the economics of producing CNC machined parts like these brakes, would the lower production runs really drive up the cost so much?
Anyway this is maybe going a bit off thread here.
Is it ok to post readers wives in here? Think my new bike could go in here but don't want to get abused with dentist comments... -
