What were the tubers trying to prove? It seems to be a point of pride in some circles to have a really loud ratchet, so they would have mixed the audio to give the impression that a cheap Novatec is just as loud as an expensive Hope or King.
If you want stealth, ride fixed with a galvanised chain🙂

Yes surley hub and shimano freewheel is out of my price range.
I could do a cheap version of both but I am not 100% convinced I like this solution.
The Novatec SS Hub is definitely my favourite but I have listened to some sound samples on youtube and the noise is hideous. I will look at options to reduce the noise and might give that hub a go.
Anyhow I think I should open a new thread for this as it has become less wheel building related.
