Problem is, if you upgrade the 2500 then you'd need a new motherboard to go with it. Then you've got new RAM

then...it's new PC time basically. And I expect yours is still pretty quick.
I had a 3700K which was plenty quick enough. Only upgraded when I found a stupidly cheap (for the spec) Alienware R7 on the ouetlet with an 8700K and 1080Ti about 18 months ago.

So for the CPU the refurb comes with, a i7-2600
