Which Tyres?

I guess if you can fit 42s then go for it. I have both but have done many more miles on the 37s. 37s are a bit cheaper though? Well they used to be.

EDIT: no both same price now. The 37s I got I think are the sport contact 1s though whereas the 42s are the IIs. Anyone else got this?

I basically have the same question as @KarlMarx

My Gravelking SK 32mm on the back wheel of my Strael is looking pretty thin, the front 35mm is still looking fine. Both have done around 4000km according to strava. I was thinking of replacing the rear with the SK Plus but heard a few people they were really hard to get on the rim. The SKs are tough but totally doable on a ride, currently running tubes.

Are there any alternatives for riding on and off road, epping gravel paths and some non technical single track. GK have been great so far, although useless in mud. I have also been looking at the Vittoria Terreno, but there seems to be 100 different types.

I really rate the Terreno Dry. Very capable off road, low rolling resistance on the road.

Yeah, I was looking at those and the Terreno Mix, I wonder how they compare. I'm not super worried about speed on road, as long as it's still fun/safe to ride and it doesn't wear too fast. The plus of Vittoria is that they are 33mm which is prob the most the frame can handle.

I’ve tried the Dry, the Mix and the Wet, for racing CX. I think I can get away with just having the Dry and the Wet to cover all the conditions I’ll race in. The Dry is good in both dry and intermediate conditions, the Wet in intermediate and muddy conditions.

If you want to try the Mix, I’ve a barely used pair here that I can’t see me using any time soon.

The mix are good, I'd say if you're doing a lot of road riding they're a bit too knobbly, but not nobbly enough for proper mud and wet conditions. I really like mine though. They do seem quite robust too, certainly not a fragile tyre in my experience.

Would be interested, but only in one 33mm one for the rear. But they are not super expensive so I can just order one if @Glws is interested in both.

Think there was some discussion up-thread about Vittoria Corsa vs Veloflex Master... Chances are it's in the same league though.

Bicyclerollingresistance has decent reviews of the Panaracer Race series, they do a 'C' for classic which was reasonably cheap, or PlanetX had brown 'D's I think v cheap. The better versions are durable, cheap, roll like GP4S. Brown not tan though.

I'm on a similar quest but gave up and stuck with Pave/GP4S for winter and tan, lighter tyres for summer.

Has anyone been able to compare the Vittoria Corse G2.0 tyre with the original G+ to check out the claimed improvement in durability? (Not that I've had any issues with durability on exclusively dry rides.) I'm looking for a better excuse than the new logo looking nice on a red bike to treat myself for the Summer.

I want a 26" schwalbe g one with a skin wall... I know no such tyre exists, is there anything close to it? Folding, 2.2"ish wide, ideally... 👍🏻

hi, options i've looked at before were Compass Rat Trap Pass, Maxxis DHT's and DMR Super Moto's. I saw some thing like a Schwalbe Willy Wonkers once but I think that might have been a pi$$ take :-)
Charge and Halo both do affordable tan/skin walls too. I ran some City Jets for frikin ages and really liked them - 1.95 but only 20 quid a pair. I think some retro mtb fans on her have used addix walled Table Top's, maybe ask thier opinion about those tyres. I think I've covered everything ;-)

my michelin pro4 endurances are looking a bit worse for wear at the moment, thinking of replacing them with the 30mm jack brown mile munchers which are currently £15 a pop at planet x, so half the price of the michelins.

Just put them in my audax bike and quite impressed. They roll every bit as well as Schwalbe Pro One 28mm and arguably more comfortable in 33.3333333333333333333r
