If I wanted to run a bolt through (i.e. not screwed into the threads of) a rack mount on some forks, what width should that bolt be?
Assuming the screw thread is the standard M5 , M4 should just about squeeze through

Yards of clearance, the ID of female M5 is >4.2mm, the OD of M4 male is <4.0mm
