Tidied up the cable route using a p-clip and a butchered adapter for running hydraulic brake hose on a frame designed for cables. Hopefully the p-clip will hold.

Saddle position is giving me anxiety though.

I'll think you'll find that lufguss conjecture trumps real world experience. Sort it out.

Advice on build please / stem!
I guess by nature this bike is kind of flexy (I'm 6'3" and about 90-95KG of pure beer and pizza :/ ) I find it a bit noodley but would a new stem be stiffer and firm up the front a bit? Nitto ? - or is it ultimately the wrong frameset for that sort of ride? my Pre cursa felt a lot more nippy at the lights/ on climbs, but this is a lot more comfy over distance.
(Excuse the old saddle!)

Nice bike !

It's a very big bike and it's made out of old thin steel tubes (i assume). I'm not sure a different stem would make much difference. Perhaps a more modern steel bike with 1 1/8 inch headtube and larger tubing would be a better compromise between stiff and comfortable?
What size is it by the way?

62st, 57tt. Not sure who it's made by but frameset was nice and light, especially given size.
Thanks for the input, I don't have much experience with quill stems beyond this one which seems pretty thin.

Picked this up the other day. Pretty much mint condition aside from some rust on the chrome. So far I changed the saddle, pedals and tires. Otherwise it is fully original. Thinking of going crazy and fitting some Spinergy Rev X's.

Good find!
Kind of finished for now. Never owned a 29er before but I must say it's really nice in soft sand and on rough tracks
