Might be a formatting issue (possibly Apple FAT32 ≠ Windows FAT32)
More likely the difference between FAT32 and exFAT.
FAT32 has a 4GiB filesize which exFAT doesn't. FAT32 is limited to 2TiB partition sizes, exFAT recommended max 512TiB but 128PiB theoretical maximum. exFAT is the default for SDXC cards size 32GiB+.
exFAT was introduced by Microsoft in 2006 for embedded systems using solid-state storage and the spec was published summer 2019 so cheaper devices that are over a year old are unlikely to have licensed the spec from MS. OSX has had full support for exFAT since Snow Leopard (10.6.5)

I was just reading an article last night asking if there ever was a golden age for hi-fi and the guy said that it's basically now except that there's no market for it.
So I'm thinking cool, if my HK goes down permanently I can always replace it and the new component will be even better!
Then he links to some current examples and I see $10,000 speakers and $5000 recievers... -

There's a market, those $10000 speakers exist because people buy them.

Imo golden age was late 70s early 80s for British, and the 80s Japanese stuff that was built like a tank.
Back then it was much more common for people to have a 'hifi' in the living room. Now most people have a big telly and listen to music via a smart speaker in the kitchen.
Nowadays hifi seems to be for 'enthusiasts' pretty much, hence the proliferation of high priced stuff.
Also I think with music reproduction being so much more accessible (smartphones etc) it's much less common for people to listen to music as a primary activity, because they have it on as background noise so much of the time. -

It’s a quickly shrinking one.

If anyone is interested, or manages to find something in the list,
Qobuz music is offering 29 high fidelity and CD quality albums for free
personally not for my tastes and will only take up space, but might be of interest of someone here.

Here's a link to the article, you can take it from there.

Like the market for $10,000 bicycles

You might, but all I see is unsourced speculation about the market. If nobody is buying, I wonder why there's a shop offering over 120 different integrated amplifiers priced from under £200 to over £13000
Also, the whole article makes me want to respond "OK, Boomer"🙂 His view is extraordinarily parochial even for a 'merkin, and strangely short sighted for somebody so old.

I’m in the market for some decent speaker stands, currently have some adjustable ones which keep going on the squiff.
Anyone have any they are looking to shift, would need to be about 65cm tall and be able to take a pair of tannoy 605’s -

i have some brand new kef performance stands, still in box, black, never built. make me an offer!

Behold my knob. The DAC upgrade has been postponed due to plague, but it turns out that my system goes loud enough to annoy the neighbours with no gain in the preamp, so for the time being I have replaced my preamp with this generic Chinese volume control, just an ALPS 16mm potentiometer in a box. The colour is also plague-related, all the black ones are still in China and I didn't want to wait for months.

My ali express aptx dongle has had a customs charge applied. I don't really mind paying £4 customs but the £8 handling fee seems a bit excessive. For something which cost less than £20.

That's one of the reasons I went for EU stock holding over colour matching, although most Chinese merchants are smart enough to declare an invoice value of £14.95 on the customs label where that's a credible alternative 😉

Anyone point me to a nice CD player to run into a Yamaha CA600 and Celestion UL6s? Got my CD's out of the attic the other day realized how much good stuff there is.

I don’t know but you will be asked for a price range.

There's a few options from Richer's, or take a punt on eBay.

YAMAHA CD-S300 Natural Sound Compact Disc Player with USB Input + Remote Control https://ebay.us/vY0nCK
Well that was a short lived but cheap experiment. Chromecast Audio is way too laggy for movie audio so it’s back to BT aptx and Sonos for music.
