    I've tried very cheap, and very expensive - all have failed to make any impression on our walls with a standard hammer drill.

    The SDS bits are, IIRC, very cheap - but that hasn't mattered due to the drill behind them.

    I'm not buying the drill/driver combo exclusively for putting up shelves, I'd simply be happy if they were capable of doing so in addition to their other duties, for which I've been using an old(er) DeWalt driver, which is now a touch knackered (in, I suspect, the battery department more than anything else).
