Similar reason for the toilet paper shortage (stockpiling actually only had a small effect apparently)
Two types of paper, consumer and commercial and they have completely different supply chains and packaging etc. Commercial demand dries up as no one is shitting at work and consumer demand rockets as everyone is home.
I was under the impression that the level of demand for flour is not unusual-but the rise in consumer demand and slump in food outlet demand has meant there’s no packaging for the stuff that would otherwise be going to bakeries and restaurants in bulk.
Could be bollocks tho
