Lots of people seem convinced but I haven't seen any pictures...

Not sure anyone has taken the plunge yet

I've just taken my forks apart for the 50 hours service. Only to realise I've run out of oil.
What do you need oil for, it's not like they even move.

If you refer 10 people do you get a free one?
Funnily enough Pink Bike didn't really rate the Bossnut, but was mostly relative to their budget.

Almost went for the bossnut but decided on a hardtail instead

these all fit the bill except Boost rear, which is pretty rare for this geo in steel!
Yeah that does seem to be the big thing holding back options, annoyingly the wheels i have don't have 142 end cap options. I'll probably flog them and then get some wheels after i've found a frame with what ever standard it has

That's a very old school geo you're after. Anything modern will handle much better offroad.
The only thing that comes to mind is a Jones. It's not that old school is it? I want something with an agro XC geo (people do still want those). Tbh for anything i can ride an XC bike on i tend to rent a 160/150 bike
This is also gunna see a lot or tarmac tbh

i have no suggestions but can you post a pic of your Trek, I find it very tasty.
I've got an oval chainring i was given and have been meaning to try for ages, although i'm a little afraid i'll like it and they're sooooo ugly

I gravelled it today and loved every second of it.

I suppose your usual riding is of the potential bone-breaking variety, so maybe for the best
