Aye, common thing over the years, get yourself new plates too, sjs sell shop soiled ones!

I think the bolt has picked up a knock somewhere along the line, they are very exposed when folded. I think they’re made of cheese.

Just became a proud owner of my first Brompton. Brompton Superlight M6L Black edition. Is there any must do upgrades worth doing asap?
I have already purchased some new easy wheels and a replacement handlebar catcher.

Sweet.

Very nice! The carrier block's the best way to carry luggage. Speedial frame clamps make the fold quicker/easier.

My next steps I think will be upgrading the seat post clamp and frame clamps. Eventually looking at changing handle bars.

It's also worth putting heli tape on the frame at the cable rub points and under the BB where the folded wheel rests to preserve the paint.

Fantastic, thank you for the heads up.

Which easy wheels and catch?
-
• #8611
I got the Joseph Kuosac light wheel set and the Ti Parts workshop catch. Both in black.

Lovely wheels good choice, also lovely catch, just be aware the stock catch is the most functional option I have seen!
-
• #8613
Thank you for the heads up. I don't require the catch to do much work in my daily life. It just more for storage when at home and work, won't be carrying the bike by hand for trains etc.

I would really like to change the wheels to carbon rims, but still want to keep the ability of 6 speed. Which I know isn't a match made in heaven. Has anyone seen or heard of this being possible?
-
• #8615
Yeah, but no point, carbon rims are mostly heavier and fucking pricey.
MiniMODs Alu rims are nice, go for the wide ones and all black 👌🏻👌🏻
Also, the Best hinge clamps i can recomend, Kuosac wheels. Not cheap, but they are insanely good. I’ll video when back at work

I’m sure this has probably been talked about a fair bit but what’s the go to Brompton tyre option these days?
After using Marathons for ever I switched to Kojaks and now can’t be bothered fixing rear wheel punctures after every two rides.
Are the Contis are good? Or should I just go back to Marathons/racers?
-
• #8617
Contis are my new fav and recommended tyre, faster than a marathon racer, just a nicer tyre!
-
• #8618
Interested to give them a go. Looks like they’re on offer at SJS too.
What’s the puncture resistance like? -
• #8619
On paper not as good as a marathon, but I think pretty good tbh

I have taken your advice on the Speedial frame clamps...€59 inc postage from the Netherlands.
-
• #8621
Brilliant. Thank you for the tip, both are definitely on my wish list.
-
• #8622
No problem. The Kuosac rims do look great. And maybe more aero?! Sjs are happy to build them onto a 6 speed hub but for £349 a rim... bit pricey for me!

On the one hand they feel like they're an expensive luxury for what you get, but if you're folding the bike lots they're totally worth it, if only cause you don't have to fiddle with clamp alignment. Once they're set up the ability to just crank the clamps to the stops and go is great.

Good looking tredder, well done!

If you are getting rid of the old frame clamps I would be interested.
Any one got a mount block going?
The bolt that goes into frame when folding or unfolding. I m hoping it’s the bolt that’s bent? Already ordered a new one from SJS.
