Bit much? A bit of short term pain for you which I'm sure you'll get over. They worked all over the Easter weekend (on two bank holidays) to make sure bins were emptied on time. They are down staff numbers and many are volunteering. Bexley have reduced most bins to every 2 weeks during lockdown, we should all count ourselves lucky we have a continuous service. Thank you to all those who are keeping our bins emptied regularly!

I’m not questioning the fact that the bins are being emptied & I’m sure the staff are being paid for working extra shifts it still has no bearing on being woken up at 4.30 in the morning by a workman making no effort to go about his business with regard to other people’s well being!

There is some key workers who come home at 8/9am and go sleep until 3pm this could also be disturbing for them if it was in the day. Right now whatever time it is I don’t think it matters as long as we have our bins emptied. The excuse of key workers being awake is not valid, my husband works shifts and he goes to sleep around 9am and the bin guys come at 11am and 2/3pm for the recycling bin. Hubbies not complaining and I’m sure many other key workers are not. Let’s leave out the key worker excuse and be grateful for every service doing there job. I pay council tax too however if they wanted to be at home and stay safe I would continue paying my council tax. Surely lives are more important then a bin being emptied once a week at 4am. 😏

I would like to add my appreciation,of the guys collecting our rubbish, seems to me its difficult doing this with out creating some noise and inconvenience. I wonder Bill how many of your neighbours were affected by the noise.

My immediate neighbours were woken and one a few doors away so I’m assuming that most of them were ! But I didn’t conduct a survey! So I can’t give you a definitive answer!

I’m doing it on their behalf , hopefully we won’t have a repetition next week & our key workers get the sleep they need !

They can empty the bin every 3 weeks as far as I’m concerned, I’m careful about how much waste I’m generating ! It’s still unacceptable for workmen to be waking people up so early in the morning & this workman made no effort to be quiet in fact I would say he was deliberately making extra noise to wake people up & that’s why I’m complaining!

The council depot doesn’t open until 5.00. Did you remember to put your clock forward?
