  • Annual post spring clean update.

Hardly ridden this thing at all in the last 8 months, mostly due to the fact it’s been parked up on a plinth at work for display, but also cos I’m lazy and not been riding bikes that much, and also cos the 2.2 rims are just a little too wide for the direct mount calliper at the rear. The 2.2 rims are 28mm wide front and rear, whereas the 3.4 rims are 28 front, 25 rear, so never had a problem with rubbing on the old wheels.

Have been using the Enve wheels on my Look for a while now, and this has had some random old Hunt carbon chopper wheels on whilst on display. So got some DT Swiss PR1400 Oxic wheels for this so I could actually start riding it regularly again without constant wheel rub.... wanted a nice light shallow alloy rimmed wheel set that wasn’t too wide, and these guys fit the bill perfectly. Was also considering some Mavic R SYS Exalith jobbies, but that whole carbon spoke thing just seems like a headache waiting to happen... and also, Mavic.

I have never really been to fussed about weight on this bike, as it’s never gonna break any records in that department, and I’m too old and fat to really care these days, but comes in at 8kg on the dot as pictured, which ain’t bad at all for a steel bike with alloy wheels in my book.

I’m deffo not as flexible as I was when I had this built 6 years ago. 😂

Also just realised I somehow managed to accidentally close this thread to replies after my last post a year ago!

  • Just found this because I was searching the forum for DT Swiss PR1400 Oxics cos I'm thinking of buying some, so interested to see you've just bought them.

They're going to be put onto a summer road bike so I'm hoping the surface will last a decent amount of time and there aren't many black non-carbon options. I looked at the all black HED rims but it's basically just paint by all accounts.

They look good on yours, especially with the Corsas. I presume those aren't tubeless?
