So many of the lines seem pretty anodyne when you write them down, but the delivery is so perfect that everything is hilarious.

I saw it in the cinema when it came out. I enjoyed it a lot but think I preferred The Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Lobster. Dogtooth has been on my to watch list for a while, maybe I'll give that a go tonight.

Having said that, I probably need to rewatch The Favourite, I was off my tits on very strong painkillers when I saw it.

The Souvenir, apparently the best film of the year according to the navel gazers at Sight and Sound.

Still not seen The Killing of a Sacred Deer, need to get on that. Was fully expecting not to enjoy The Favourite as much as I had enjoyed The Lobster - which I loved - but was pleasantly surprised. Think The Favourite is better paced and I have attention span issues. The Lobster's glacial pace and long silences - which I appreciated as an aesthetic - meant that I found it slightly hard work by the end. Maybe I should rewatch it whilst not on a transatlantic flight though?

I briefly wondered what became of Edward Judd. Looks like he might have been (one of) the inspirations for Matt Berry's 'Toast of London'.

The ambiguous ending was aimed to put a British Stamp on this SciFi B-movie to contrast it to the American clear cut films in the same genre.

Rewatched A History of Violence last night. Mid-2000s classic.

Just watched both Sicarios.

The first one (2015) is a really nice thriller with some good performances, especially from Emily Blunt. I thought about skipping the second one (2018) as I’d heard some pretty mixed reviews. It’s poor but still enjoyed it. It’s basically Josh Brolin saying ‘this time, there are no rules’ + some shooting and helicopter shots.

Yeah the first one was an actually interesting thriller, the second was just a dumb action movie (not that there's anything wrong with that).

So does FuFu by all accounts - saw her on "Rich people showing off their stuff" a few sundays back.

I found that on first viewing but watched it again and it seemed much more thought through. Looking forward to the third.

A Perfect Day (2015 release) get an 8 from me.
Not a great fan of Tim Robbins but he fits in well to this role. Del Toro steals it, as usual, but the real depth is in the character interaction, constant threat to life and black humour that infects everyone despite the impossible situations.

I still need to see her on that!!
