  • What's the best 700c road (25mm ish) clincher for grip these days?
    Most of the online comparison things seem to focus on puncture protection and weight.

  • Probably because to test grip you need to push it to the edge and then crash. Repeatedly. Testing for puncture protection and weight, even rolling resistance, is much easier.

    YMMV but I find Pirelli tyres very grippy. Very impressed with GP5000s too

  • I read somewhere that Conti's were actually less grippy than veloflexes in the wet. The theory went that once you lost grip on the veloflexes you were really railing it over and tended to crash, where the Conti's lost grip earlier and thus were easier to keep upright.
    Helpfully, I don't use either and tend to use Vittoria or challenge, with the Vittoria being a bit more confidence inspiring in the wet.

  • Always assumed they used a similar machine to the rolling resistance one to test these things out but i guess you're right. Cheers for the recommendations, will look into them.
