  • Turning into your dad is sure sign of aging! Trust me, I know!

  • It is but it is a bit of a constant headache worrying about anyone bumping it while it's parked or the boy dropping food on the interior.

  • I'd forgotten how much of a headache car ownership is.

So far I've bought and fitted the following for the 182:

    • Entire rear interior
    • Full exhaust from the Cat back
    • Standard airbox
    • Cup 182 floor mats
    • Rear boot badge
    • Rear exhaust mount (in the post)

This car has all the bad points of classic car ownership, with none of the benefits - it's a Clio!

Wishing I'd held out and bought a mk2 Golf.

  • I think a Clio Cup bit more exciting than a Golf.

  • My grandfather used to have to do the same thing to get up Porlock Hill. Not sure which car it was, may have been a Humber Super Snipe.

  • I used to “have” a Clio for work, first version, like a British racing green, can’t remember which engine but will have been a 1.8 or 2.0i or thereabouts. Great cars, comfortable seats (seemed to be a Renault thing), blended in everywhere and it was bombproof. It was also very rapid. One of my all time faves for work.

  • The car sort of fits with the proffession.

  • Saw this today, apparently a kit car as DVLA has it listed with a 5.3 litre engine, so assume its got an American V8 instead of the 4.4 litre V12 it had originally. For a replica its a good looking one, but I admit to having rose tinted specs for these as the hardtop version was the best car in Top Trumps when I was growing up.

  • 5.3 litres sounds like a Jag V12. I wouldn't be surprised if it's got full Jag underpinnings. They're very popular with kit car/hot rod/replica people due to the modular nature of the subframes.

  • Ah OK, good stuff. Don't know why I didn't think of a Jag for a 5.3, especially as an hour after seeing that I saw this V12. These have grown on me over the years, don't like the spoiler tho, and I have to admit it looks better dressed as a 365.

  • [edit - too late!]

  • Bit of help today from my daughter, floors and bulkhead should be well on their way tomorrow. So much other stuff to deal with as well.
