Hah, it was fine! You get used to the cold and most of those toes were surplus/just holding me back anyway : )
I always liked the Marins of that vintage and the SE is appreciably lighter than most (but Christ it rusts if you just look at it funny). Matching the Sakae iron bar stem to it is a bit perverse, I guess. Changes planned are:
Paul v-brakes (sitting in a box, might as well)
Return of the 1 x 9 (currently s/s)
2.25 Table Top tanwalls

Didn't I inadvertently leave you standing outside a pub for 15 minutes while my phone was muted? I still feel bad about that.
Glad you like it though and that it looks awesome on the Marin. Funnily enough I took it off a bike I got to replace a Bear Valley (not SE) that I managed to crack through the dropout.
