  • Because there was talk of finnish knives in the whittling thread, here's my Enzo.
Came as a kit, with sheath and pre formed scales. I only glued it together and did some final shaping and sanding on the scales.

Very happy with this it's my main outdoorsy kind of knife. Which means food prep and campsite tasks, no chopping trees for me.

  • Look the same photoish. Gimme a bit and I'll motivate myself to take a photo and weigh it.

  • Nice knife, wonder if a knife feels more your own because you made it.

Trees, wood and other than food require a second knife. Tru fax.

  • here is somebody selling it cheaper under a different name:
    https://yuzhuknives.com/products/kiritsuke-8-inch-damascus-japanese-steel

definitely chinese knives. I got this one with a black handle from ali express:
    https://yuzhuknives.com/collections/all-knives/products/yuzhu-oban-5-inch-utility-knife
It's not bad and looks nice but it should be tapered more towards the tip. The way they
left the tip it doesn't glide through stuff as easily as it should.

  • Just cancelled my order... 😎

  • Looks nice buts am I wrong in thinking it's a turbo charged craft knife?

  • ![](

  • I think so. Same as how a bike is only really yours if you have tinkered with it?

Trees, wood and other than food require a second knife. Tru fax.

Well good thing then I make a hatchet.
Filed mostly by hand (didn't own a grinder at that time) from 7mm SB-1 steel. An experience I do not have to repeat. It's been used a fair few times over the years for campsite chores.

  • Oh nice, thanks for the quick review, I may bin that idea then. I'm mainly looking for something with a nice wooden handle and a decent shaped blade, not so worried about the quality of steel and don't want to pay £400 to a guy with a beard in Deptford.

  • Very nice.

Chapeau to the filed by hand, I have the upmost respect for you.

  • Finally taken photos and uploaded them.
    Home made cover

    The weight

    The width

  • Thanks, so definitely not 100g as on the websites!
The profile of the blade looks good, flat with a slight curve towards the tip.
Is the edge bevelled or flat?

  • Also curious about the 90 degree bread knife/saw

  • These are what I use in the kitchen for work. Hold sharpness well and easy to sharpen. Plus I don’t mind too much if someone borrows one and puts it through the dishwasher.

  • Yesterday's cheap carbon steel knife bought from the asian cash and carry (Jin Zi Pai stainless steel fruit knife with wooden handle 7.5" x 2" blade...also it is not stainless)

  • Will get a photo in a minute, and add it here.

The bread knife is from Ikea.

  • Yeah I used to too, well some cheaper copies. In the kitchen before that we used massive Chinese cleavers for everything apart from pairing and Sushi, it worked pretty well.

  • Have had this for a while. Being slip-joint, I reckon it's fairly low on mall ninja points. Also, "Manly Comrade" :-)

  • There’s a stropping compound called Smurf Poo that does a good job of bringing some shine back to blades with a soft cloth, if you want to go a step further.

  • Got a few bits from bolpol, mainly the jewellers rouge to polish some scratches out of car glass and the smurf poo is brilliant to remove scratches from stainless steel trim.

Then the faracle compounds to bring the stainless to a perfect finish.

Never thought to use it on a knife, just used the honing fluids for tools as it was cheaper from the tool shop. Suppose it is the same as sewing machine light oil, a litre costs a similar amount to 50ml bottles.

  • First sharpen of the Boker pure CPM. First try sharpening powder steel and was impressed with how easily it takes an edge.

  • The Brama knife turned up... The Damascus steel looked totally fake to me, I could be wrong but it just felt a bit fishy...

Took it straight to the post office and sent it back... Photo not mine, grabbed from their website...

  • Just got this, a Fox Livri. Nice little Italian made slip joint in M390 steel.

  • Certainly looks fake, as if the pattern has been stamped, etched or something , as opposed to being an integral part of the steel.
