You can ride it on the road, question is why you'd bother?
It's a great track bike, and a compromise road/commuter bike. Even moderate use around town I'd worry about cracking it or something.
Unless you have big track ambitions then just buy something that's going to be suited to the majority of the riding you'll be doing.
If you just want a bike that looks nice and forget about comfort or practicality, then obviously proceed.

Ok; that’s good input. I’d like to ride fast but also iI’d like to be able to still be comfortable over long distances and also sometimes just cruise along casually. I did wonder if this was a bit of a silly idea.
I’ve also been looking at state bicycle black label v2, which seems a good compromise of light but strong and slightly less aggressive. Do you know anything about state? On the surface they seem like good bikes but it’s hard to find anything about people’s long term experience using them.

How long is a long distance and where will you mostly be riding?

I guess between 50-60 miles (not sure if that counts as long - It is for me anyway, fitness isn’t fantastic these days)at a time, mainly urban for casual ride/commute or light countryside (eg Kent and suburbs) for days out riding. Have also been considering aventon mataro, dream would be a cinelli

Cinelli distributor has some Vigorelli Shark frames on eBay in Sm, Md & Lg
You could build one into a bike for what that Planet X would cost with parts from here.

Thanks for the link! I’ll have a look at those. Seems like a good option. In case I do go down the pre built has anyone got any experience with aventon bikes? Again they seem great on the surface but would prefer to hear actual riders experience

They're heavier than they look. I'd go for an aluminium frame or a steel Vigorelli if you can find one for a good price, they'll generally have a less racey position and probably better tyre clearance.

Sweet. This is all great to know. Think I’m going try and be patient then save a little more to build a nice cinelli. Thanks for everyone’s input and advice (and of course anymore that’s coming my way!). Much appreciated
Hi everyone, new user here, hope I’m posting in the appropriate place. Hoping to get back into riding fixed again after I unfortunately had to scrap an old road bike that I converted to fixed a few years back. I’m currently looking at the Planet X Roi de velo with the intention of changing the forks to a drilled fork that will accept a brake so I can ride it on the road for a fast runaround. However it does say on their website it’s purely designed for track usage not the road - how much of this is arse covering and would I be fine to ride it on the road? or am I genuinely being an idiot considering riding this bike on the road. It’s a carbon bike which I understand you can’t beat up as much (prepared to be corrected if I’m
Wrong about this) and I don’t want to spend money and end up trashing it within a few months due to inappropriate use. Thanks in advance.
