I've got an Arcteryx Sawyer jacket which I bought for walking, for its length -i was fed up of getting the stuff in my pockets wet when the rain ran off shorter jackets. It's basically replaced my cycling waterproof though, because I find it more useful to have a jacket I can wear for both.
My only complaint is that the hip pockets aren't pitched right for a backpack with a hip strap, cos it's a 'city' jacket.
I know this is an odd thread to dredge up while stuck indoors. But I was thinking about hiking/ cycling and outershells.
Is there a outer shell that is both hiking and cycling friendly? I mean, it's longer at the back with rear cycling pockets as well as normal front pockets and perhaps a hood?
My favourite shell is my gortex cycling shell but it lacks in front pockets and a hood. But it's great of heavy rain and sweaty work obviously.
I saw some great shells in Canada, proper heavyduty ones with amazing fabric. I hate shells that feel like bin bags or bin liners. But the thing that stopped me was that they didn't have that extra length at the back for cycling.
