That's my setup for mtb. 26" mavic crossmax wheel, max 1.9 tyres fit. Front compensated dmr fork with disc, or fox. Front brake only, but good fun. Spread those dropouts to fit 135mm is no trouble
Do you mean you prise a 135mm rear wheel in, works fine, take it out, goes back to 120mm?
absolutely straight to 120mm, no 121 or more. chainstays are super tough
Ideally having one hub with open bearing and swap cones for thinner one would be ideal, but no possible on crossmax
