This thing fell over when a light breeze blew past it last year and the rear mech snapped off at the bolt. Must have been waiting to go. Was too pissed off to sort it out so ripped the wheels and brakes off to use on the Giant Acid instead... and then spent the past however many months on a bmx and motorbike instead.
Long story short, after a very long morning, it’s now got the wheels and disc brakes back on, rear canti bosses removed, Deore XT with the middle ring only, and a rear mech of sorts (actually the original 8spd before putting 9spd bits on.
Massive faff getting the discs to give me full lock skidding goodness.
Also bodged a keeper on the drive side axle from a bmx chain tensioner, because I have scars on my body from the wheel slipping out the diagonal dropout. It’s bent 45’ so looped onto the axle, and bolted down against the outside. Hopefully gives a little bit of contingency until I can fab something stronger.
