  • There's Level and Level T I think. And the latest "bleeding edge" 'technology' too.

I've found an old bleed kit in the shed, so I'll watch some YouTube videos later then cock it up badly :)

  • Level T says Level T on :)

  • My wife's favourite ceramic mug has a chip from a long time ago and though it doesn't bother her (she drinks from the other side - not a euph) now that it's come home from her workplace I get to wash it on a regular basis and have come close to cutting myself a few times. Would it be possible to sand or file it down a bit without inflicting major damage?

  • I can't really tell from the photo but the clay particles are likely to be relatively coarse and might break away as you try to sand it down. Also, as the damage is at the rim you'll risk making it even sharper.
Maybe using something like epoxy resin to fill the damage could work?

  • A diamond file will allow you to take the edge off, and you could then build it back with epoxy.

  • I had a similar problem a while back, after lots of research I found the easiest solution was to source another one and throw the old one away.

  • My wife has asked me to cut her hair. How bad an idea is this given that my only previous experience of cutting hair is sheep shearing?

If I say yes could this lead to a divorce?

  • Do it, post pictures here

  • It's much the same - I'm assuming you've got a bucket of tar?

  • need a replacement strap for my Garmin Vivoactive 3 but too scared to post in the watches thread. Any recommendations for something harder-wearing than the soft cheese it came with?

  • I need to undo the strap of my Garmin 735XT to install the new strapkeeper, got a replacement from Garmin but without the Torx keys. Found out it's a T6, got a set of electrician screwdrivers to find out I need a T6 on both sides. Is my only option to get another set or can I bodge it in some way?

  • I bought some cheap replacements for my Garmin (Forerunner 935) from eBay. You can get 4 or 5 for the price of an official Garmin one, plenty of options.

  • [googles ‘strapkeeper’]

    Oh.

  • eBay. Gotcha. Thanks!

UPDATE: Ordered a couple of anodised stainless steel straps for that “it’s not quite black m8 is it?” look

  • Slack spokes can ping under load.

  • Thanks, don't really want to go the epoxy route, I think it will be even uglier (though safer) than it currently is.
Thanks also to @Dammit and @Greenbank - I have some old jeweler's files, these might work, and replacement is not not an option as she actually has another but apparently the handle has a slightly different shape that is not as comfortable...

  • Which Hope bottom bracket do I need?

    • 68mm wide shell
    • Shimano GRX 2x10 cranks (compatible with Hollowtech II bottom brackets)

I don't know what the difference is between the Hope Road version (BBSSRSN) or the 68/73 version (BBSSXCN)

  • The 68/73 is a MTB spec one and is wider - tech specs chart here.

GRX uses a standard road BB, so you need the BBSSRSN model.

  • great, thanks a lot

  • Travel agent trying to charge £150 to refund cancelled flights. Presumably this is them chancing their arm and there's no basis for them to do so, or did I sign away my rights in some T&Cs?

  • Is accidentally dropping it an option you have considered?

  • I have a consumer rights question, not sure where to ask...

I bought something from Homebase in December, still have the receipt, and obviously well in warranty, which has now broken, I would like to use this product but given all Homebase stores are closed I can't return for replacement or repair. Would I be within my rights to but another one from somewhere else and then return the broken one to Homebase when they reopen and demand a refund, or could they then force me into a replacement? Don't want to end up with 2, but not sure where I stand in terms of rights.

  • Depends on the T&Cs.

  • Contact HB, ask them to send you another one? They might want the old one back, they might not?
