  • Both my Durga and Egress make a pronounced chunky ticking noise when coasting but are fine under power - I've taken the egress gearbox to bits and there's no obvious damage. It appears to be tooth slap between the spur and pinion as the motor passes through its dead spots. Wonder if this is something specific to Brushless motors?

  • Fusion Hobbies are struggling to keep up, I put an order in 3 weeks ago for bearings, carbon bits and some paint
Chased today as I haven't seen any of my items yet, seems there is only 1 person working there ATM, and is a bit behind.

Hopefully in the next week or so I can finish my build and paint it whilst the sun's shining.

  • ThunderDragonCy on Tamiya Club is Cy from Cotic Bikes, right?

  • Tyre glue, what do you use?

  • I use the stuff from Core rc. It's basically very runny super glue.

  • Hmmm, can the pinion/spur mesh be adjusted

  • Hmmm, can the pinion/spur mesh be adjusted

    Yeah, believe me I've tried!

  • Sounds a little like cogging, it’s common in sensorless brushless.

  • Yeah I think that’s what’s causing the tooth slap at low speed coasting - will try to get a recording of it

  • OT soz - For anyone with airborne RC interests Im trying to get rid of a Spektrum DX6 + receiver and sim link etc over in the classifieds. I also have a acro/race drone (Quadcopter) project to shift-needs FPV gear but has entry level motors/escs and an F3 flight board. Spektrum serial RX installed. Carbon Frame designed by me - based on impulse alien. Could be a fun Lockdown project for anyone interested.

  • I have "built" my RF!
Shell needs cutting and painting, but the rest is running.

Did a spin around the garden, and it stopped moving. Seems the little grub screw holding the pinion gear wasn't tight enough.
Already rebuilding, reckon there will be loads more of that!

One thing I did notice is that it's reluctant to go in reverse. From rev to fwd is fine, but if I hit rev from fwd nothing happens, any ideas?

    Classic :)

Probably just activating the brake. From forward hit reverse, which brakes, then go back to neutral then reverse again in quick succession to quickly get it in to reverse. Probably won’t do the gearbox much good though :)

  • Excellent! Brake confused me to start with, depending which esc you have, you can alter so you have f/r, f/b/r, or, f/b. Bit of thread lock on the pinion grub screw always help too.

  • Sadly, it turned out to actually be for the kids

  • What thinners are you using with airbrush?

  • Proline stuff is prethinned. Acrylic I’ll use water.

  • oooohhhh, nice

  • Can't get the primary colours at the moment, so just grabbed what I could! Spray and Pray!

  • Experiments in liquid mask. Excuse crap shapes - just in the dicking around phase.

  • Cut the shell, badly.
Need to smooth the edges a bit, then lay some paint.
    Leaving the rear wing clear.

    Machete not stuck on yet.
