Back to kyote bars, more basket space and wider. Also a tad of rise which is welcome. Wife will be having the same, but trimmed.
Ergon gp1 for now, maybe some esi xc xxl - but we are keen to have marching kit (to each bike and generally in the shed) because spares are much easier...

I was thinking of buying these Kyote bars but 800 width seemed a bit too crazy for me.... How are they?

My crosscheck in its ever changing current permutation. These specialized saw tooth are a bit porky so will be swapped out. Ritchey silver stem and bars on the dream list.

Use whatbars.com to compare to your current, I’m going to shorten the stem from 110mm to 90mm
Pretty happy then, wife will have 700mm After trimming

Looks killer! I've got a silver Ritchey stem in the parts box if you're interested? It's quite long IIRC...
-
• #1608
Potentially! Depending on length and type. I shall PM!

Off with the Geoff, trimmed the kyote to 680mm and on for the wife.

I don't really understand the dropouts on my Straggler. They're an odd design, like this: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsurlybikes.com%2Fblog%2Fstraggler_dropout_update&psig=AOvVaw1WcGBjVu5C9KdNFBaQql7G&ust=1587046149410000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCIDwqOHN6ugCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD
Feels like the axle could slip out if the QR was to come loose? Doesn't feel particularly safe and I don't really get the benefit of them being machined like that (I'm a bit of an idiot so there could be a good and legit reason).

The design makes it easier to run single and geared. Though for most people (inc me) who will just stick to geared, its a pain in the arse. For what it's worth I have never had any kind of slippage though. It's just a faff when taking the wheel out.

Cool, good to know - thanks. It does seem a faff when taking the rear wheel out, I look forward to the next puncture now being in the cold/rain somewhere :)

I used to get loads of slip on my CC and ruined a number of skewers doing them up too tight. Until I got some steel hope ones. Have a bit more bit and strong. Don't get any slip now.

• #1614
Shimano are always the best skewers!

Yep, especially XT ones.

Want to fit an carbon road fork on my pacer but what would fit a 30mm conti 5000tl?
-
• #1617
Whisky do a 'mid reach' road fork that fits 35c and matches pacer geo pretty well. Nice but pricey.

You mean to cut the additional brackets off?
Bought it cheap, came without the usual fittings. Probably should cut those off. I'm lazy, One day.
-
• #1623
Yeah!
100% get it done, saves more weight ;) only takes 10 minutes to do it carefully

This is how my crosscheck conversion currently stands. I love this bike.

What fork?
Was thinking single speed dad bike, 29 with extra terrestrials look nice but expensive, want to use a trailer as well.
