On the subject of tools, I bought my Makita Li Ion gear tail end of 2008 and it’s still going strong. Got a drill, jigsaw, grinder, circular saw, lamp and the crap vacuum cleaner. 4 batteries and it’s all had a busy life but I do look after it. Makita vs DeWalt has always been the same. DeWalt for rough jobs and demolition, Makita for more precision jobs like carpentry and metalwork.
Just watch out for the Screwfix versions of any of those tools - they’re often a slightly shitter version so they can put them in their deals.
