It’s bizarre, but I think several factors contribute to the centre of town being deserted; Royal Mile and the Grassmarket are usually hoaching with tourists, most accommodation is Airbnb, pubs etc. are all shut. I reckon I saw no more than 10 people on streets that would normally be absolutely rammed. Still, quite eerie, and I’m cycling on routes that I usually avoid like the plague (pun intended) as bike paths are busier with walkers and are too narrow to pass folk safely.
