Good shout. I haven't used a double lockringed version before but I used a non lockring hope bb and it was fine. But good shout for reminding me about that. Gonna take it for a test spin in the next couple of days when the weather gets a bit nicer, if I hear anything then I will try get some loctite online.
Re; Fork. Lets see how it goes with Mario Vaz ;-) I know what you mean though. Im having second thoughts on the fork but I think it might be too late...

Update -
Fitted the Royce BB, Izumi chain, fitted the crankset with a 51t chainring and changed back to the darker Turbomatic 2 saddle. The chain clashed with the faded saddle, also realised that the rails aren't TI but the standard cromo just sanded down annoyingly. Anyone got a cheap Flite TI saddle knocking around?
Anyways, new page new snaps -

Well that's incredible. I like the contrast of the orange (or pink..) with the yellow. Is that a Mavic extension kit? Yellow Mavic bar graphic overkill?

Tape is great! That brake must be s-p-e-c-i-a-l cos it looks fugly.

Thanks :-)
Yeah its a full Mavic kit. haha yeah, I do see where you're coming from. I think the front rim needs to be destickered for sure. They are repro decals and are a bit off and too big annoyingly -

Thank looks lush

as good as it gets, well done!

wow thats awesome!

Hehe.. its the most "aero" brake I could get my hands on!
You'll be happy to know theres no creaking from the bb too btw :-)

Thank you!

Don't remove the decals, or if you do then at least get some more. Some of the coolest rims ever and they look so much better with decals on.

The rear wheel has original decals which won't be coming off, the front has got repros I got made and do have a few spare sets. Need to find someone who can reproduce them 100%

Plan for next few weeks -
Drivetrain runs super smooth with the non-creaky Royce bb and new zumi chain. Pushing a 51 felt really easy for someone who hasn't been riding for a while.
The seatpost is pretty much at min insertion point which isn't ideal due to the saddle being a lot shorter than the Cinelli saddle, not sure how many more mm I can pull it up without compromising the safety. Looks like I'm gonna have to stick a shorter stem on the Mavic set up as it feels quite stretched out now.
The rear wheel could be tighter to seat tube if I took a few mm taken off the inside of the track end to cut a link out of the chain. This would help keep the rear tight when changing ratio.
On the look out to get a few other bits for this too,
- grey anodized Mavic SSC chainring in 52/53
- C Record Pista headset
- 15t Campag Alu Cog
Maybe get a custom Cliff Shrubb pantographed Mavic stem made for the Mavic set up rather than the Cinelli 2a track stem. Also maybe consider getting a few chainrings I've collected pantographed too. Dw it wont be colnago style where logos are all over the shop but just a single bit of writing on each chainring...

Ha yes don't remove the wheel decals! I was actually referring to the bars and wandered if the Yellow Mavic graphic would work there but I guess it would off been transferred on originally.
Plans all sound good.

Scored a 1st Gen C Record headset from fleabay only for it to arrive and it actually be French threaded, not Italian like stated in the advert..
V annoying as I’ve already removed the headset from the frame ffs.

French threaded is rarer... Sell at a higher price and use the proceeds to get an ISO one, which (I think) is broadly interchangeable with Italian?
Obv annoying for now though.
-
• #245
How much rarer? more than £100?
ISO and ital are tech interchangeable yep
-
• #246
Good point, I’ve no idea. £100 is more than I’ve paid for a headset :) But it’s a pain finding French threaded non-reproduction headsets, so I guess it depends if someone else really wants that 1st Gen C Record for their Pug or boutique ex-velodrome track frame...!
Hopefully the seller offers you a decent discount in any case.

Its way more than I have too in the past tbh. Thing is I missed out on a VGC 2nd gen used headset for £75+post so for peace of mind thought I'd stump up the extra for a NOS one, as you can never be sure of condition on second hand headsets. Also thought I could sell the old one for a decent amount too so ends up not bing that much.
Just gonna send it back for a full refund as I can't risk the gamble on waiting out for weeks for the right buyer to make a small bit of profit.. I'm annoyed as this 1st gen has a better aesthetic with the less cut out bits for the wrench and would've matched the sugino 'popes hat' locknut I'm polishing up.

Ah well. Fingers crossed that another one turns up shortly!

Good post day today -

OCD kicked in last week and spent a few hours over the week sanding the Sugino high column top nut "popes hat"and some polishing with autosol brought it back up to life to match the campag headset. Far from perfect finish due to limited sandpaper grit I have but does the job from a distance. Done the seatpost while I was at it too -
Perfect match is pretty near impossible but I did see some really nice yellow grade tape by ambrosio which has a similar shade to the orangey yellow of the Mavic decals. If not I've got some sugino 75 stuff I could potentially use
