EasyJet refunds

  • My flight to Spain next week has been cancelled. No surprise of course. I was using up the last of my leave so I don’t want a voucher or to rebook as god only knows when we will be able to fly safely again.
The options available on line are rebook or voucher. To get a refund you have to phone customer services. The message says they are very busy and to save the bother of wasting time hanging on in a long queue they are going to cut me off (paraphrasing somewhat). Any idea how to get past this to actually speak to someone?

  • My experience with Easyjet is you've just got to suck it up and stay on hold. Likely get disconnected and then have to call back again. Always a painful experience.

  • i spent a morning calling back every 10 minutes. i got through eventually and got a refund with no quibbles. refund hasn't actually arrived yet though.

  • If you press option 1 the call gets terminated. I guess other options you may get connected. The law states they have to refund within 7 days. If they can pay Stelios his £70m dividend, they can pay you.

  • In the T&Cs of my easyjet flight I get 12 months to claim the refund, so Im going to wait a bit for the rush to calm down. Also keep an eye on the cost of calling, it charges up to 13p a minute, I worked out that because I had snagged a super cheap flight it would only take 6 hours of hold to end up costing more than the flight.

  • Well there you go...
I got the email cancelling the flight. It is clear from everywhere that you must phone customer services for a refund. I have spent the last 2 days trying to get through.
Today I get through (a waiting for 40 minutes after getting through the first message) and am told there is a web-form that I can complete. I say I have not seen a webform. It turns out that this webform only becomes available once there is less than 7 days to the cancelled flight, irrespective of when the flight is cancelled. Now I have to wait until next week to complete the form since neither the call centre person nor I have access until the date passes.
I really want to throw my toys out with the call centre person but she didn't design the system, she doesn't design the process and she's been taking calls for a month now from people in exactly the same position as me. Bloody hell, who'd do that job at the moment out of choice.
At least now I know how to process the refund without calling customer services but they could cut down on a lot of frustration by improving communications and instructions on the site and making it so complex to get a refund.

  • That is good to know thanks.
Ill keep my eye out, I was supposed to fly next week.

  • I followed a prompt through the EasyJet App for a refund. This was about 4 weeks ago. I still haven’t received a refund. Tbh I forgot about it until I saw this thread. I guess I should log into the app and see what it says.

  • 28 days it says to process the refund even though legally I think they have 7
