We completed the purchase in November 2010, moved in directly thereafter, and received the first invoice for the service charge in January, spoke with the managing agent and made the arrangement to pay quarterly. We'd paid quarterly from the very first payment up until that which was scheduled for the 25th of March 2020, which I cancelled as the letter we received from the Solicitor stated that we'd be charged £95 for making a payment to anyone other than their nominated bank account.
I'd actually overpaid the Section 20 in February, so cancelling the Q1/March payment didn't put us into arrears (according to the quarterly payment plan agreed with Martin in Jan 2011), and I've made it clear to the solicitor that I'll pay in June as scheduled in order that I don't become in arrears.
I've also offered to pay the outstanding balance now, if they cancel all legal fees, and on the understanding that this payment is in no way anything other than a gesture, and does not accept that they have any legitimate claim to the money, but just to resolve the situation.
They said that Martin still wants half the legal fees, so that's a no-go.
