I want to sort this folding knife out a bit, think it was my dad's and it's marked "made in Sheffield" but other than that I don't know anything about it. What's the best way to clear out the gunk in the slot where the blade folds away? The action is a lot stiffer than I remember it being, hoping a good clean will fix that but I'm not sure what to use on it.
Likely combination of skin oils and rust and pocket lint/dirt. Compressed air, ear buds with soapy water followed by earbuds with rubbing alcohol on them to clean out any remaining oils. Look for pivot points and add a drop of 3 in 1 oil to keep them moving.
