• The tweet I linked to says, very clearly

Reports that the UK Government has seized control of Scotland’s Coronavirus testing kits are “simply untrue”, says the Scottish Government

The tweet is from the Times of Scotland's Politics and Education correspondent.

    You said

Ironic because Govt also seized testing kits already allocated to Scotland

The tweet directly contradicts this, so your attempt to argue black is white is quite impressive.

Let me put it this way: Do you have any evidence that testing kits already allocated to Scotland (your words) were seized by England?

  • I think both of you are discussing a semantic or maybe syntactic difference.

Reports that the UK Government has seized control of Scotland’s Coronavirus testing kits are “simply untrue”, says the Scottish Government

    Is not contradicting

Gompels is a private company, used by all devolved nations until April 1st when it suddenly seems to have acted on instruction from Whitehall not to sell to anyone other than PHE.

Basically ube is saying all new supplies are being redirected to England and you're arguing that existing supplies haven't been removed from Scotland and sent to England. One of you is right, both of you are right or neither of you are right.

  • You get it. But why can't Fox?

Perhaps because he is what Kuenssberg is to the Tories when it comes to anything related to the Westminster vs Holyrood...

  • I think it goes beyond mere semantics or syntax. The Gruber's original post (#9720) sought to draw together four different 'facts':

    1. The reports of a 'hijacking' of a consignment of 3M masks said to be destined for the Berlin police, the accuracy of which now seems at best uncertain.
    2. PPE supply within the UK, and the alleged instruction by PHE to suppliers not to sell outside England. Hancock has said there were no such instructions, and told the other three health ministers this. Whether the Gompels website sales restrictions is cock-up or conspiracy I don't think anyone here really knows.
    3. Gruber's claim that 'Govt also seized testing kits already allocated to Scotland'.
    4. Gruber's claim that the government also 'said Scot NHS not allowed to bid for its own kits or ventilators.' This is presumably a reference to the Sky News report claiming that the UK government had taken over procurement of testing kits and ventilators, a report which Gruber posted a YouTube video link to, but which has since been flatly denied by all concerned, including the Scottish government.

In posts #9744 and #9759 Fox called out Gruber's assertion that 'Govt also seized testing kits already allocated to Scotland'. There is of course a very big difference between testing kits (which Gompels doesn't sell) and PPE (which it does). In response to being called out on the testing kits assertion at point (3) above, Gruber's gone Full Trump, combining deflection (by talking at length about PPE, which is a different topic entirely) and division (ad hominem attacks on anyone who dares to disagree with him). After a brief foray into Godwin's Law territory in post #9750.

tl;dr - More than semantics or syntax. Gruber got called out on testing kits. His replies concern PPE.
