Minecraft: My daughter and I play it together sometimes, she's on her kindle fire, me on my phone. We can play on the same world over the wifi network but it keeps disconnecting us.

What's the best solution here?

Get an xbox.

Can you connect to Xbox with other devices?

Sounds like a firewall issue. Try adding Minecraft to your exception list.

Not tried it but you can do split screen and minecraft is part of gamepass along with a bunch of other stuff

I guess that's half the problem.

Maybe look into if the right ports are open/forwarded on your router.

How bad of an idea are Ti hub axles? I vaguely remember some late 90s XTR hubs having Ti axles, and having some bearing preload issues with the qr? How bad would a solid Ti axle be in a 7700 hub?

I spilled water on this keyboard, now my 'C' and '\' keys don't work. Backslash is particularly critical. Can I fix it or does it have to be thrown away/not worth the effort?

It's one of those Microsoft ergo things

(Could rebind backslash to Caps Lock or something but I still need a C)

Like any Professional Software Bloke I have at least 100 spare keyboards and mices at any given time. But using them has given me instant RSI

In my experience, it's basically toast. Probably one of the tracks has delaminated or something (How can this happen from water, I don't know)

I would try and dry it out for a couple days, and if it doesn't work after that, mets le a la poubelle.

Anyone know a decent computer repair place, sw London, Wimbledon to Tooting way that’s open at present. Laptop is not charging and battery is now flat. Pretty sure it’s the laptop power socket, it was playing up just before lockdown- when I was thinking I must get that sorted soon.

It's already been "drying" for the best part of a month, I just haven't got around to trying anything else yet.

I think you're right about the tracks, the two keys are on the same row obviously. I thought it might be a capacitor or something. I might poke about with it a bit more but guess it's dead as you say

If it's just those two keys and not any others it's likely to be contamination on the contacts on each key. You need to pull apart the layers and clean them.

Whether this can be done without destroying it I don't know.

Belated thanks. I have now two in my possession for 42.7mm chainline. I narrowly works with the chainstays, will have a look for the wider ones

It is possible to pull apart the layers, but the contacts look okay to my untrained eyes. I notice there's a bit of discolouration on the tracks (green arrows). Broken keys are yellow arrows.

I'll get something to clean it with (will meths + cotton swab work ?) and give it a clean between the layers I guess?

Oven fan has started being really lazy to start. Gets going after fifteen mins though.

Pull the back plate off the oven and clean it all out? Or something else like motor failure or bearings?

The fan on ours would occasionally make a rubbing noise or not spin, I think it was down to a distorted element. Spares readily available on ebay for less than £15 and about a 20 minute job to replace it.

That was 18 months ago and it's just started to not spin on occasion again (needs a flick with a skewer to get it going). If it doesn't remedy itself I'll investigate further but I'm happy enough to keep it limping along on cheap replacement parts for as long as I can.

Mystery rattle inside the frame.

So there's something rolling along the inside of the top tube of one of my steel frames and it seems to be bigger than the small hole in the lug.

So my question is - forget about it, you won't notice it when it's built?
Get a file and make that small hole bigger?
Fill the tube with chemicals to break whatever it is down?
Frame saver?
