  • That first shot has that illusive dreamy quality that I always hope for but never quite hit the mark on

  • I've been very lucky with the exposure :) (2min30 at f8 - Fuji Pro 160NS)

  • Impressive! Expired film too?

  • Nope, but I'll give it a try though!

  • How did you meter this? Somewhere in the midtones or complete guess?

  • Somewhere in the midtones!
I metered the light in the ground, then the house and decided to hide the lens from the artificial light coming from the spot. It was much darker than the pic suggests.

  • All 20 year old expired films, Pentax ME super and Olympus MJUI - covid19

  • seriously amazing colours; what film and lens is this if you don't mind me asking?
    did you scan these yourself?
they look like magazine prints of shots on slide film from the eighties, lovely.

  • I really appriciate that!

These were either taken on portra 400 or superia xtra 400.

And lens is the standard 50mm zuiko lens on an OM10. which is a cracking lens tbf.

  • Im gonna go out and say its superia, I dont think its portra not from the tones.

  • Definitely not Portra.

  • Superia 400 is a slept on film stock. I picked up a couple of rolls pre Covid shitstorm and having not shot it for a few years, I'm really looking forward to it. Used to me one of my favs.

@Josh Great sense of energy in those shots.

  • That portra 400 finally went up in price, £55 for 5 when it was £42 at the start of the year, not gonna put me off shooting it but just a bit annoying.

The 120 is probs worse value giving that its £45 now and you get such small numbers per rolls.

  • Thanks, the risk of expired film, which is what I'm shooting during covid, from oldest to newest.

Edit - cats always ended up on the sharing online pile.

  • Wasn't the original reason for Kodak jacking up their prices due to unprecedented demand?

I wonder if the inevitable lull due to Covid-19 will affect that.

  • Yeah its my go too really as its like 12/15£ less for 5 than portra.

Thank you! Im going to shoot more around Birmingham markets when we are aloud out. So much life there.

  • Aye that was there excuse, fuckin jokers.

  • Superia 400 is a slept on film stock.

I don't like it as I've found the shadows quickly go to muddy crap if shot at box speed. It's fine at ISO200 though... but at that point I'd rather shoot C200 (which is fine at box speed) as it's cheaper.

On the other hand maybe I've just had bad luck with Superia.

I have had this happen with some of the images I have taken with this film. but not so much recently.

  • Birmingham has so much to offer, I bloody love my city.

  • Kentmere 400 pushed too 1600 and on a Vivitar 28mm lens which I am loving atm. Good little lens for less than £30 of ebay.
