There were 6082 more deaths than the 5-year average in the week ending 3 April.
Covid-19 was mentioned on 3475 death certificates.This does not mean that only 3475 deaths were the result of Covid-19.
Some of those additional excess deaths may have been the result of the virus but not logged as Covid-related because of a lack of testing.
Some of those additional excess deaths may have occurred because of a lack of hospital capacity, thanks to the ICUs being full.
They really could have picked out some different colours, my eyesight is pretty good but not sure what I'm looking at..
So, all deaths have sharply risen compared with 5 year average but by more than can be associated from covid alone, although covid does represent a significant amount?
