  • Plenty of alternative/better ways to make a nice steel disc fork if you’re not hung up on the tapered blade aesthetic (which makes little to no sense for disc brake applications)

  • Man has bike built that he wants, specs it how he wants, rides it where he wants, gets caught abroad by lockdown, we pile in, I love this forum (no sarcasm intended).

  • The world would be such a better place if everybody just rode matte black Canyons.

  • Fucking tall gears for touring. I hope he lives in Norfolk or Holland

  • He chose to spend $400 on Jan Heine's centrepull brakes instead of plain old cantis/V-brakes which probably work better. He's paid extra money to give himself less choice and make his frame and forks irreplaceable

They're based on Mafacs centrepulls, which were made in the millions and therefore easy to find should you need to? They're also not particularly fragile parts so I don't see why the RH version would be.

then said there is only 1 rim for sale in the world that fulfills his requirements.

Not quite what he said, plus I can think of 3 other brands that do 650b rim brake rims. He'll be fine for the next 20 years of riding he has ahead of him, the same way some people are still riding 27 1/4 wheels in 2020.

Careful Alby the Surly fanbois are going to come after you.

  • The worst thing about it is having to use a spanner to adjust every part of those brakes. So frustrating and you have to carry one on every ride.

  • Brake pad backwards and misspelled Kaisei twice, borderline trolling.

    A very nice bike though.

  • Brake pad backwards is a choice due to how it feels on gravel. I doubt people like us would understand.

  • Also why not use the Paul ones for proper DBAD

  • LoLz

That pad about to plane right out of there

Not that bike shops are super common in Morocco where he rode but even if they were, my (admittedly very vague) memory is that the majority of bikes were not that retro and usually carried mostly cheaper bikes from the far east where the bike shops could get decent supplies of spares rather than what looks like quite overpriced spares for Mafac. Also, other than bolts, pads or cables, not sure what spares he'd need. I'm okay with people choosing whatever they want, I don't have to agree though.

  • The point I was making is the frame is not tied to those brakes, not that Mafac spares are easy to find in Morocco...

  • Unlike Paul Racer which are only tie to a specific mount that no other centerpull can be fitted

  • what DBAD could have been

  • Could have?

  • In a parallel universe.

  • Didnt know where to put this.

But guards and 2 cages seems functional to me?

  • Didnt know where to put this.

    Road fixed!

  • Shit fixie skidders say

'Or the flex of the bike, in this case. But the beautiful thing is when you get it right, it sync’s with your pedalling style in a lovely way. The aim with this frame is that because it’s flexy, it’s moving with every pedal stroke, and it gets into a frequency. You have to respect that frequency, and when you do, it’s the most beautiful feeling'

    Dank weed in Girona obv.

  • that bike with the axe looks so badass / awesome!
