Owning your own home

Just had a call from my estate agent saying they've got someone who wants to view the flat tomorrow to try and resurrect my sale and purchase.

Can't say I'm too keen on that though to be honest. Will have to have a think.

Are they allowed to do that? Could be a zoom viewing?

There are carve outs for moving house but I suspect this may be too pushing it too far.

We’re looking for a shoe rack/cupboard, upright able to hold 20 plus (ideally) shoes. Not too deep, and decent looking. Think Ikea not bespoke prices.
Missus wants something and she’s shown me an ugly stackable plastic box thing, which even if it’s a placeholder makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know..

I keep my cycling shoes in one of these. I think it was from Argos and cost £8.

My sneakers are in their boxes. In a storage unit. A mile away. 🤷

I want to make it legit to have another person living in my house when I'm the only name on the mortgage. I guess first step is to tell/ask the bank. What can I expect? Will they want some kind of assurance that they other person doesn't claim a right to live there if I default on the mortgage? Is there a standard form for this or do we just write a letter? What else - are they likely to say no? Does it change the terms of the mortgage?

Unless you want them on the title deed I don't think you really need to involve the bank, no?

Terms of my mortgage say something like - only you live there, and no-one else is allowed to also live there. I assume their concern is in the scenario of me defaulting on mortgage and there's another person who may have acquired rights through living there a long time, and who the bank have no agreement with.
I would just like it all to be legit so that everything is square across council tax, insurance etc

I have a balcony, the current situation makes me want a garden. I imagine that I am not alone- are we going to see a move toward the burbs as C19 continues?

We had gotten a few valuations and were just about to pull the trigger on listing it at the end of Feb.

We're hoping to make a speedy exit to rural Ireland as soon as the travel restrictions are lifted and thinking that letting our house here and renting in Ireland is going to offer the quickest route to achieving this.

But there are places out there *gestures beyond the M25* where you can do that and now (hopefully, due to enlightened and generous employers) continue to easily earn your existing London wage, increasing competition for charming rural hotspots that were previously ideal only for slacklyfe people like myself. My worry, anyway. We were looking to up sticks end of the year, reckon we’ve been set back 12 months by all of this.

I'd have moved to the countryside 5 years ago if Me Julie would countenance it. She (quite unreasonably in my view) doesn't want to cycle 70 miles each way to get to work in Mitcham.

Wonder if there will be a big spike in London house-with-garden prices - as those who can decant from flats. When this is mostly done.

Hard to know, one thing that this has shown is that a very large number of London office based jobs can be done remotely. A commute that would be a total bastard five days a week looks a lot more reasonable for one day a week if it means you could pretty much swap your flat for a detached house with a large garden.

I'm trying to stay within an hours drive of Heathrow, simply because it makes days where you take-off at 6am and land back at 8pm more tolerable.
