• I am trying to understand the reasoning for the first part of your equation; so for every click of the STI shifter, the cable moves 2.3mm, and for every 1mm of cable pull, the Mavic moves by 2.25mm - is that what you meant? (I haven’t checked the accuracy of the numbers myself - I can’t really be bothered on a Sunday morning in bed but it sounds about right).

    Anyway, if you’re correct then go for it, what could go wrong? Although it could be that the 0.01mm difference might be your undoing. Worlds have been destroyed by smaller discrepancies.

  • Yeah that's it. I don't think 0.1mm will matter so much. Derailleur guide pulleys have more play than that anyway.

  • That’s 1mm over the range of the cassette though. Not a lot but enough to cause so iffy shifting at the extremes perhaps
