I'm a mechanic in a shop that is pretty much in middle of 2 hospitals, but folk who live here usually work at one of the other hospitals in the city or are healthcare in one way or another. Tend to be fitter/more active persons and tend to cycle to work.
Why the hell aren't hospital trusts getting proper bike stores (the steel locking kind parked next to a main entrance where a security person usually is to be found) and allowing their staff to use them? You do occasionally find a hospital that has one, but locks are rusty/no one is allowed to have a key/security fed up of sending would be thieves packing (surely their job?).
Number of thefts round here from outside hospitals/healthcare centres is high.
