• It now has a chain and working brakes.

    I've never gone single speed on a frame designed for a derailleur and I'm not clever enough to work these things out, so there's lots of experimenting going on. I've got a half link chain on the way too to see if I can improve tension without resorting to a specific tensioner.

    Fitting a chain also revealed the chain line is way out despite looking ok to my (obviously wonky) eye. So that's on the list to fix too.

    Thanks for the suggestions on the rear cable routing. I'm going to keep it as is for now, but keep an eye out for a neater fix.

    Still umming and erring over grips too. I'll find something I like one day!

  • Thanks for those. Looks promising if I change the 16t sprocket for a 17t. Gives an unrounded chain length of 49.92 inches. Up from 49.69.
