  • At least they don’t brag too much (as far as I read) about the superiority of their frame design, more about homage to 90s styles.

  • From on here right? Love the paint.

Is that a canti brake on the rear and V-brake on the front?

  • Of course. Gracias.

  • My version.

  • That is nice. Probably the nicest Isen I’ve seen.

  • Wonder how it shifts.

Edit: Sprint shifters apparently. Love this bike.

  • Probably due to rack?

    Great build.

  • Nice build and not a bad read but not sure about some of the hippy waffle.

He says that when you are able to get the bike in sync with your pedalling style, it smoothes everything out and makes the bike feel like it’s going on its own without too much strain from your legs. He calls this concept ‘planing’.

  • Nice build and not a bad read but not sure about some of the hippy waffle.

Yeah, it's borderline 'Shit fixie skidders say', but the bike makes up for it.

  • Guy seems to have more money than sense (that seems clear from the questions about coronavirus). Reckon his bike will probably end up in landfill when the weird expensive niche parts are no longer sold or Jan Heine decides actually disk brakes are pretty cool when he can sell a caliper for £400

    Looks nice though.

  • the hippy waffle.

Yeah but the hippy waffle is Heine's, not his really. I like the fact he's actually not gone "full Bicycle Quaterly" and added HT2 cranks, powermeter, Di2, T47 etc which you would not see on Jan's own bikes. Maybe not the bike I'd built but he's obviously experienced so what if he want a 1" steerer and rim brakes.

  • Guy seems to have more money than sense

I no rite he could have bodged together something for like 20 quid.

  • Find it odd that he thinks rim brakes are better than disc brakes for offroad though

  • He doesn't though. It was a choice he made in regard to the frame/ride characteristics. Same for the 1" headtube instead of 1 1/8".

  • Ye, did pull a face to myself then I read that

  • Its DBAD!

  • Real heater on Reddit

  • As @Tijs pointed out, it's more of a forks choice than a brake one (there are very valid reasons not to want steel disc ones).

  • Is that a turbo tyre on the front?

  • more of a forks choice than a brake one

He chose to spend $400 on Jan Heine's centrepull brakes instead of plain old cantis/V-brakes which probably work better. He's paid extra money to give himself less choice and make his frame and forks irreplaceable

Plus he made it 650b then said there is only 1 rim for sale in the world that fulfills his requirements

And then he decided to ride this bike, alone, through the mountains in Morocco in the midst of a global pandemic. 👌

  • Also

They’re a combination of a dual-pivot brake and a cantilever, designed by Jan Heine. I can one-finger brake with these no problem.

I’m pretty sure that design is older than Jan Heine, since these brakes are copy of Mafac Raid
