  • We've moved to a new housing estate.
We're very near nature but nature hasn't moved in yet.
It's like there's an invisible barrier to stop all but the most bolshy of birds entering, namely magpies and the odd crow.
The other day a wren came into the garden and I nearly cried.
I put a couple of feeders up yesterday I can't stop watching them.
    I've had no visitors.
High overhead there are kites, buzzards, gulls, ducks, geese.
A heron lumbers past once a day like a Chinook.
The swallows have just arrived and scream above us, all at the margins of the 'bubble', never coming too close.
    I keep watching my feeders.
    Waiting.
